The purpose of this task is to ensure that Technology Asset And Configuration Tools needs in the engagement are fulfilled by the current set of Technology Asset And Configuration Tools. If a change in the tool or any feature of the tool is required, it should be addressed by the Change Management process.

Main Description

The technology configuration management needs of the engagement may keep evolving throughout the life of the engagement. This could be due to changes in the engagement or identified improvements. The Configuration Manager must constantly keep evaluating the technology configuration management needs in the engagement and ratify if the existing tools and repositories fulfill the same.

The Configuration Manager must also evaluate if the existing CMDB is capable of accommodating all types of technology configuration items and their relationships.

In case, the Configuration Manager realises modifications are required to the tools or repositories, or additional tools are required, or a new configuration item type attribute needs to be added to the CMDB, a Request for Change needs to be raised for the same.

The Asset Manager must also evaluate the existing technology asset management tools with the needs in the engagement. In case additional tools or modifications to the existing tools are required, a Request For Change must be raised for the same.
